H. Lawrence Boudon, PhD
Lawrence Boudon graduated from the Lutheran Theological Southern
Seminary in Columbia, SC, with a Masters of Divinity in May, 2009.
He finished his fourth-year internship at St. David Lutheran Church in West Columbia, SC in July of that same year and moved with his wife Laura and son Lucas to Miami, where Laura began working at the new school of medicine at Florida International University.
He is currently serving as interim pastor at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Coral Gables, FL.
Prior to seminary, Dr. Boudon worked as Editor of the Handbook of Latin American Studies at the
Library of Congress in Washington, DC.
He also taught occasional classes on Latin American politics and international relations at American University, where Laura worked as an academic adviser in the School of International Service.
Dr. Boudon holds a PhD in International Studies from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL, a Masters degree in Government from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY.
He worked as a journalist for Agence France-Presse (AFP) in Washington, DC, then as an adjunct professor at various universities leading up to his five-year stint at the Library of Congress.
Dr. Boudon was born in Olean, NY, and grew up in nearby Port Allegany, PA.
He is the oldest of three children; his two siblings continue living in Port Allegany.
He married Laura Elizabeth Besseyre on June 25, 1994, in Nice, France.
They have an adopted son, Lucas Alfredo, born in Guatemala City on July 9, 2006.
Dr. Boudon's interests include cooking, golf, culture, travel, hiking/walking, music, art, and computer games.
