Welcome Message:
Greetings in the name of our Lord! All are welcome to join us in worship on Sundays at 10:30 am, and be part of the exciting mission and ministry at St. James. The worship service is a comfortable blend of English and Spanish, reminding us of the rich diversity of God's people. The mission of the people of St. James Lutheran Church is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to grow in faith, and to invite all to share in the love of Christ with the world. St. James is a congregation with a rich history and an exciting future. All are invited to be part of that future by discovering their gifts for ministry and the passions that fuel their desire to serve. Come, share in the excitement that grows from ministry in Jesus' name!
Sunday Morning at St. James:
Sunday worship is each week at 10:30 am. The family atmosphere features a Children's Message each week and Holy Communion is celebrated. A coffee fellowship time follows worship.Sunday school is offered each week at St. James. During the Song of the Day following the Sermon, children are escorted to the Learning Center for "Little Sprouts," a learning event with crafts, conversation and fun! Should it be hard for our youngest friends to be in worship during the sermon, our teachers are happy to take them to the Learning Center immediately after the Children's Message to read a Bible story. Adults have a number of opportunities for learning, including class on Sunday mornings following worship, and numerous offerings on weeknights throughout the year.
The Worship Service:
The service at St. James is liturgical in nature, meaning that there is an order or form to the worship experience. The basic pattern of traditional Lutheran worship includes four movements - gathering, word, meal, and sending.
In the Gathering, the Holy Spirit calls us together as the people of God. We confess our sins and hear the Good News of God's forgiveness; we sing songs and praise God, and greet each other in name of the Triune God.
Next, God speaks to us in the Word: public reading of Scripture, preaching, and song that reflects the theme of the day. The Word is further proclaimed as we join together to confess the faith of the Church and to pray for the whole world.

With the people now nourished in Word and Sacrament, the service moves into the Sending. The people hear a closing blessing, and the sing a sending song as they move out into the mission field of their homes and communities to live as Christ's body in the world.
